Haven't had much luck with my 2-3 last posts, so hope I get some kind of response here...

Would anyone have a clue what this package would be worth?? (very roughly, of course).

Motor is a 1990, boat is an 1985. VRO has long been disconnected.

Guy says compression is fine, and "works like a charm".

He's asking $4200 CAN, but is willing to go down some.

I don't think it's worth that much, but I'm not to knowledgeable in this area.

I appreciate any help / suggestions on what to look for / questions to ask and an idea of the value of this package.

Thanks.

you are looking at a 24 year old boat, and a 19 year old motor. the motor is worth here $1,000-1,200 US. The 24 year old boat in top notch condition, $500, trailer $200.

unless you want just a GO FAST boat, because that is all it is good for. it is grossly over price imho.

Buying a boat

1st you need to decide what you want to use it for, fishing, cruising, or water sports.

2nd how many people adults, children you want on board of the average outing.

3rd outboard, inboard-outboard, or inboard power plant.

4th Budget, what you want to pay, and what you are willing to pay, when you find
Exactly what you want.

You can hire a marine surveyor, to inspect the boat, or you can do it yourself.

You are mainly looking for soft spots in the deck, transom, cracks, all signs of a rotten, under frame. You walk all over the deck, that a mallot, or hammer with wooden handle, using handle, tap all over the transom, a shape rap is good solid base, a thud, is questionable base.

The motor should be clean, no spots where the paint is discolored, or pealing from heat, having run hot. (This part for outboard motors Compression should be atleast 100psi, and within 10% of each other,)
Spark on all cylinders, good pee stream, check lower unit for water in oil.

The overall condition of the boat will tell you a lot, as to how it has been maintained.
boat motor combo, A 30 year old may be in better condition, than a 3 year old.

X2 on everything previously stated, also I wouldn't buy a boat without a seatrial / lake test...

IMHO it's a $2500 lake boat....

I don't think that your respondents are up to speed on that boat either.

Get a marine surveyor to appraise it if you are serious, the seller is offering the trial.
