Nice to see a forum for Hurricanes. I just bought a 2008 198Re a few weeks ago. I had it out
only once before I had to winterize it. Seems like a fun boat. We'll mainly use it for cruising
the river and also some wakeboarding. I'ts got a Yamaha F115 on it and I'm hoping it will pull a slalom skier ok. It would be cool to hear from other owners of there experience with this boat.
thanks, Dan

Re: 198re

Welcome to iboats Dan!

And congrats on the cool Hurricane!

With the correct prop I see no issues pulling a slalom skier with the 115...

How much doe the boat weigh? What prop are you running?

Thanks Bear, that's a nice looking Hurricane you've got too.
The prop on it is stainless and I think it's a 13.25 X 17
Before I bought it I drove it on a little lake and it felt pretty quick out of the hole
and topped out at about 39 with 2 of us in it. but when I had it on the Missouri river it felt
a little sluggish with 4 on board but we were taking off into about a 5 mph current.
I'm sure I'll like it, we don't do much skiing but I think it will do ok, mostly I'm pulling my
150 lb kid on a wakeboard or 2 kids on a tube. Wet weight is supposed to be around 3100 lbs. We're going to get a slip for it on the river but we will be taking it to lakes for water sports. It's got so much room on it, especially compared to my old 15.5 ft. Chrysler trihull :)
