I have an 1989 2.3 engine cobra. Lower unit water pump was just replaced along with the t-stat. Pump was melted. Took it to the water and let it warm up and it was running about 170-180 on temp gauge. Took boat for a test ride and at higher RPM's it overheats. Bring engine it back to idle and it cools down to 180 again. HELP !!!!
I know it is possible to have rubber from pump plug something but could someone please help me out. If you think it is clogged where would I look first. I was told I could leave out the flapper valve also is this correct ???? I have already spent a ton on this problem and need to fix it myself this time due to lack of more funds and tired of getting ripped off.
Thanks in advance all.
