1989? nissan 25HP ???????

hi again, my brother is having trouble with his motor, he brought it home yesterday and we started it up with the muffs on, it started up with in 4 pulls then shut it down again, he went out that afternoon and went out a little ways then he stop the motor then would not start up again, he trolled all the way back with his trolling motor, he brang it home and looked at everything, he first looked at the carbuator and there was alot of black stuuf inside so he cleaned it all out then put back together, net, we checked the spark plugs and had no spark so we went and got new plugs and looked for spark again with nothing being there, it has good compression, and nothing looks like it is pluged up. WE NEED HELP BAD>>>>>>

You will probably need a manual, from this point. No spark, might look toward a flaky safety switch/lanyard or wiring connectors. After that, would need to check coils and pick-uos, etc. Once you have spark again, I'd still pay some attention to the rest of the fuel system. Chances are, that black gunk is in the fuel lines and fuel pump, as well.
