1989 Mercury 25 HP

I have a 1989 Mercury 25 hp it is a pull start with a console on a 16ft. AlumCraft boat. The motor will start when it is cold on the second or third pull, it runs great at full speed, 1/2 speed, 1/4 speed and at a very fast idle. If you pull the controls into netural it will die and then you have to pull the rope about 30 or 40 times to get it started again and then put in in gear as quickly as possible and it will run great again until you put it in netural and it dies. Have changed the plugs, tried new gas and had the carb. adjusted but no luck. HELP>>>>>>>>>

Hey Deadringer,<br />Sounds like you need to clean the low speed/idle circuit. This means taking the carb(s) off for a thorough cleaning. Goog Luck.<br />Backlash
