Just marketing and a decal.-----------It is the same motor / parts as the 15 hp of that year.

Thanks . I was curious about the carburetor. ...... I'm lead to believe that it is a 15hp carb with a restrictor plate installed from the factory. Thoughts?

I understand the 2nd post. If it is a standard 15 hp motor with different graphics and the 15 hp carburetor. ..... why is it a 10 horse motor.

Some lakes have a 10hp limit. This was a marketing attempt to circumvent that, by doing what many people had been doing anyway - sticking a 9.9/10hp cowling on a 15hp...

I don't want to sound like an idiot...... I am very new to outboard motors. So , does that mean that I have a 15hp with a 10hp cowl? I read on this site that there was a restrictor plate installed between the carb and intake manifold. Also , why can I not find the model # on any look up sites? Thank you for your patience and any assistance.

On your ID plate on the side of the clamp brackets, what is the country of origin? Most of the GT10s that I have seen or heard of were not made in the US, but in other countries. . If that is so, that is why you can not find it in the US parts lists.

Also your model number says it all CJ10SPCEC. I supect it is a Canadain because of the first letter & the SP would refer to the GT series, possibly as a Special run.

You might pull the carb to see if it has a restrictor plate.

Been away for a long time, good to be back..

If the restrictor plate is removed. .... the carb would probably require some adjustments, wouldn't it?

If it does have the restrictor plate, & you remove it, yes I am sure the idle jet may need adjustment. Now something else, if that does not help at higher speeds, there may be a nonstandard mainjet for these motors. I have not had my hands on any & those that I have corresponded withall over the world fail miserably to respond. If that is what you find, please respond with your info as there are so few of these documented, that it is an educated guessing game...

Was also curious if this motor is equipped with a neutral safety switch? I know it may be a stupid question. ....bit as I said before , I am very new to this. This is my first boat and motor. I find the wealth of knowledge from members here very valuable. I sure do appreciate your patience and understanding.

No Title

Here is something that I found on this motor on another site. Can someone confirm or disprove this?
