Hi everyone,

New to the board please go easy on me.

I recently got this boat and now it's been having problems.

I recently disconnected the VRO and just been using it as a pump (I've been pre mixing 50:1). I'm able to start the boat but it would cut out after 15 seconds even at full choke, but if I pumped the bulb it will keep it going (I'm guessing its the fuel pump?) *Note* when I get the boat going, when I try to give it full throttle it will just cut out and no power

I recently got a new bulb, the carbs were just cleaned. I'm just wondering which fuel pump I could use to replace the VRO pump

I've been looking online and I noticed OEM part - 0438557 or 0438559 (What's the difference?)

Any help would be great or any info I need to add

Hi,

I'm assuming it is 0438557 OEM, any chance there is a aftermarket part for this?

I'm guessing 0438559 won't work? (There is aftermarket parts for this one :()

I think you can find lots of cheaper pumps on -------E-BAY-----They are all the same quality and all work well.

Just curious if you ended up swapping out the pump and if it worked for you. I am having similar symptoms and was thinking about trying the same thing.

Before you go and assume it is the fuel pump, a few questions.

What did you exactly do to disable oil injection on VRO fuel pump?

Have you performed a fuel supply vacuum check to verify it is within spec? I think 1 to 4 Hg of mercury vacuum is the correct amount, anything higher points to a fuel supply restriction.

I don't think it is a restriction but it is worth ruling out that possibility before buying a pump.
