Hello,

I have twin 1989 150 Johnsons, and they run great. Here's the question. I've noticed the temp guage on the port motor runs slightly hotter then starboard motor at IDLE. Once the boat gets up on plane, the temp goes down. (The guages are old but functional) Is it normal for engine temp to rise at idle versus at speed? (The temps drop dramatically at 2500 rpms) Thanks.

When was the last waterpump service on these engines? More than two years? If so, you're overdue...

Have you replaced the thermostats? Replacing the thermostat is a good thing to do at the time you service the waterpump, especially with saltwater use...

Should'nt be any dramatic differences in temp, unless you'd consider 10 degrees dramatic..

The thermostats have 1 season on them and waterpumps replaced last fall...I maybe overreacting simply because of the age of these motors. They have had alot of preventive maintenance in the last 2 years. Thanks.
