Hello first post but long time viewer!
I recently purchased a 1989 Honda 5HP (BADS serial)....the red white and black version at a garage sale. It started up and ran fine upon purchase, yet was stored in a half oil drum for iver a year (yes with rusty water) Got it home and 2 days later filled up a rain barrel and it started first pull. I was going to run it or a little while to "freshen" it up, it had been sitting.
After letting it run for approx 15 minutes it died out of nowhere. I tried 4-5 times to restart it with no luck. I pulled the cowling, made sure the plug was connected...It was...removed it and tested against a bolt...plug is good I ensured the bubble was firm...it was. I tried without the choke and with...nothing. I'm sad. I put it up.
It has noticeable compression and there was a strong pee stream during idle, everything seems to be fine. What should I try before taking it to the local Honda dealer?
Any help would be great, I am not a mechanic but have a general understanding of these things.
