I've got to troubleshoot this motor and I need an electrical schematic of the motor. I really don't want to buy the 40 dollar repair manual. Can anyone send me a copy of this schematic by email or even regular mail? Please....help a broke fisherman out.......

Cant do that trollfreak. Those manuals have copy rights. Check your library out. Some of them have manuals you can check out.

Ask me some specific questions and I will transcribe the circuit information from my manual. I sympathise with you as when I first bought my 16footer with a 1991 Force 70. I had no cash left for some time to buy the manual. Fortunately a kind iboats member sold me two manuals and a prop for a bargain.

Well, I guess how the module under the flywheel connects to the the rest of the ignition components.

50Hp Force for the years 1988D-1991 use a prestolite CD ignition system.
the earlier years 1987-1988A,B,C also used this system but the CD module is combined with the ignition coil.
The following description assumes you have separate ignition coils and CD module.
Under the Fly wheel there is a stator with 6 wires. Two wires are color coded Green/yellow.
These connect to the Rectifier for charging circuit. There are two yellow and two blue wires these are connected (two yellow together) and
(two blue together) to only two terminals on the terminal strip then using the same color wire connect to the CD (capacitor discharge module).
Also under the flywheel is the trigger, this has four wires orange and green as a pair and red white as a pair, these connect to the terminal strip and then the same color wire to the CD module. The CD module has a black ground wire and a white wire to the stop switch circuit.
The connections from the CD module to the ignition coils are red and orange wires.
If this sounds exactly like your wiring, I could describe the test procedure for the Stator, the trigger etc.

Yes this sounds like what I have....If you could describe the test procedure it would be most helpful.

Re: 1989 Force 50hp motor electrical schematic

Preliminary Check.
remove the spark plugs, using a spark tester crank, the engine and observe a good crisp spark. I dont have a spark tester myself, but holding a spark plug tight against the chassis with an insulated tool you should be able to observe the quality of the spark. This does risk getting a shock if one isnt careful.
a spark tester is easier. ( this is a spark plug wire with a small air gap, then a crocodile clip to the chassis)
If no spark the fault is one of the following four things, probably.

Stator test.
Disconect the yellow and blue stator wires from terminal block, should be numbered 1 to 4. A special meter is needed, one that reads peak voltage.(DVA)such as mercury marine multimeter No 91-99750.Well I dont have one of these
either, so we are looking for a Peak voltage of 210 volts while cranking the motor, a normal meter wont show 210 volts but may give a kick in the needle each rev of the motor.Test wires 1 and 2 then 3 and 4, same voltage.

Trigger test.
Disconect green and orange trigger wires from terminal block.Test these wires with the same peak voltage meter, Looking for a peak voltage of 0.3volts.
reconnect orange and green wires. disconect white and red wires, Looking for a peak voltage of 0.3volts once again.

CD module test.
test the output from the CD module with the same peak voltage meter.make sure white stop wire circuit is disconected.
disconnect the orange and red output wires that connect CD module to the High voltage coil. while cranking the engine, looking for 210 volts between orange or red output wire and chassis.

Ignition coil test.
If all the above checks out and there is still no spark, the problem is the ignition coils, But as there is two of them, it should be obvious with a spark test if only one is dead.

A bit difficult to test these components without peak voltage meter but might be able to determine if stator or trigger is totally dead or not.
An oscilloscope would show this pulse of voltage, should you have one of those tucked away. Hire companies may have a peak voltage tester.
Hope it helps.

I kinda have the same problem. My neighbor has a force 50 that he took on trade. Can you tell me, is the color codes of the wiring cable. Yellow, blue, red etc. Also, how does the whole electric choke fit into the picture. Thanks a million. Jim, friend of neighbor
