so I had the lower unit off today and now I have it mounted now. I need to adjust the throttle cable because I moved the cable adjuster. I didn't move the idle screws at all and before I moved the adjuster it idled great. can I put the idle screw up against the stopper and adjust the cable to it and it should be back to normal ? also on the shift controls what is the first notch for when you shift forward and what does it do ?

Edson, yeah, move the idle screw lever to stop and adjust your cable accordingly. Just a few twist should do it. No worries

As far as the shifter. F-N-R I think you are talking about the first notch which actually moves the shift rod into gear before the throttle picks up. Good job with getting Lower Unit back on! First one?

Re: 1989 evinrude 110 outbord control cable questions

I did an inboard before but this outboard has been my night mare so far? first shift rod did not want to let go till I found the trick to it my manual I have was not very clear. then when I got the lower unit off the shift rod spun so I then measured it and put it back. then the exhaust seal need to be replaced. then I made the mistake of spinning the control nobs. so hopefully tomorrow ill test the adjustments I made I so hope it works cause im on vacation on sat. wife will shoot me if were not on the water. thanks for the reply ill message back tomorrow if everything is good or any fallow up question

ok after unhooking the throttle cable and moving the throttle lever to the idle stop it would not start move the lever off the stop then it started got it to the idle I wanted then attached the cable idles fine then I shift to forward then back to neutral again and it has fast idle. could this be because the idle stop is not seated? or maybe im doing something wrong?
