Hey Guys,,

I have a 1989 25hp Evinrude motor, We took it out the other day and noticed it blogged at high speed, So we brought it home and Cleaned Carb, We replace the plugs and check the compression. Motor does idle and run great at low speed.and when you accerate on it , it starts to blog down.

Do anyone have any suggestions that would help me?

Thanks, Dale

did you remove the high speed jet, and clean it, also did you use a rebuild kit? see the Top Secret Notes at the top of the forum.

I have never been able to figure out why they did this but the high speed jet is in the bottom of the float bowl, you know, right where any crap that gets into the carb goes first.

You need to pull the drain plug and the jet is inside that hole, you will need a long skinny screw driver to get it out then run a stranded copper wire through it and that should make your problem disapear.

Newer motors like your have 3 jets, idle, mid and high speed and it doesn't take much to plug them up , even if it looks clean still clean it, a small amount of varnish will cause the problem you described.

Thanks Guys, I fixed my motor today.
It had a bad oring in the primer pump, which was letting air into the carb.
I replaced and motor runs great.

Or it could have been that.
