My first boat is a 1993 deckboat brand deckboat. Love the center console layout but what I've discovered is that the batteries are getting drained too fast. I've got 2 deep cycle batteries that both hod a charge at 12.6 days after they were last charged (i've tried running the motor off of each separately and keep one to run only the trolling motor). However, when I'm out on the lake, I can get 3-4 starts out of the boat and then it cranks 15-25 times but won't start, until finally just losing so much juice that it won't crank anymore.
I have all of the accessories including two live wells, lights, radio and horn hooked up to the same battery that I use to crank the engine. However I leave these accessories off and only use the live well pumps as needed for a minute or so at a time.
Bottom line is that I don't feel that I'm draining the battery with the accessories as I've become very careful and afraid of killing my battery.
I'm not verse enough in outboards to know if my v6 200hp even has an alternator. if not, perhaps something equivalent that keeps my battery charged? Seems impossible that nothing would be recharging it as I run around.
Thak everyone in advance for your assistance and hopefully this isn't a repost.
If there is an alternator, is there a way of checking it with it not under a load? guessing the answer is probably no.
