Needing to replace the strut bearing, I removed the prop and now there is a brass looking bushing that I need to remove and unsure of how that is removed? Below are pics of it.

Also from what I have read I need a 1" ID with 1 3/8" OD bearing yet my measurements show that my drive shaft is 1" OD and the inside diameter of the strut bearing measures 1 1/4". Any input on this would be great, as I want to order my parts and get this boat in the water!

Bushing that I need to remove:

Re: 1989 Centurion strut bearing question

try heating it and lightly tapping it with a brass punch to loosen/remove it

once you have the old strut bearing out measure the id of the strut and that will give you a better idea of the od measurement for the new bearing

Thats what we are planning on doing then. We did measure it and it is definately 1 1/4" and not 1 3/8".

May sound strange but when doing those bearings we often buy them slightly oversize in the OD, dunk them in dry ice, pound into place then let it thaw. 2 grub screws plus the friction between the bearing and the strut and it'll never move. And for a bit of fun, the left over dry ice is dropped into a large plastic Coke bottle, the cap put on then it's chucked into the bushes.

Well I ordered the 1 1/4" bearing and I hope that will work. God to I want to get this boat out on the water!
