1989 Bayliner omc 5.0 cobra motor

I'm new here and I am getting my parents boat. I was wondering what the horsephower is on a 89 bayliner with the omc 5.0 cobra motor? Thanks for the help.

When they were still advertising horsepower on them, they were from 200 to 230.

It has the Ford 302 with a 2 barrel carb.

It's either 185 or 200 hp, both have 2 bbl carbs. Do you have the full model number of the engine handy? That would be a sure way of finding out for sure what it is, plus you will need it later on for parts ordering to make sure you get the right part.

I know that holley still makes the carb becuase we had to buy a new one since the old one was leaking gasoline.

does the air cleaner still have the decal on it? if so if it is the HO version, it has the higher horsepower...

Yes it has the decal on it. This weekend I will be changing the oil, the spark plugs and the stereo system.

Make absolutely SURE that you change the vertical drive oil exactly as the OMC service manual instructs.

yep,
and don't remove any plugs on the side of the drive that the manual doesn't specifically say to remove.

Make sure you fill it from the side of the drive!

The 89 Bayliner didn't have anything special in the stock boats.
Probably 200hp.302/2bbl. The 351 came with 260/4bbl.(I think?Been a while)
