Hey guys, Im in the middle of a transom replacement/stringer repairs. (yes i know its a bayliner-no bashing please) When I removed the motor and transom assemble i noticed that the hose that the shift cable runs thru looks really nasty. its not leaking water but it looks old and has cracks in it. probably just from age and heat from being in the bilge for 20 years. I havent had much luck locating an new one online. Has anyone here had to replace one? I dont know where to go to buy one if its even available.

Any thoughts appreciated.

cheers

Stu.

Thanks Jerry. It looks rough and would hate to pull the motor again to replace it.

Hi speak, I'm not sure where you are in Ont but I have the same boat I'm parting out, that's listed on kijiji. I'm in Bomanville so let me know if you need any cheap parts. It may have a good shift cable on it.

i dont use used parts unless i cant find a new one for this OMC. What i am looking for which i know i have to buy used is the water elbow that bolts to the head and conects to the thermostat housing. This part is no longer available and requires me to source out a used one. Anyone know where i could find one? I have looked all summer and have not been able to source one. I have rigged up the old one with a huge washer to hold everything together for now. But i dont like the looks of it at all.

Your right that parts gonna be tough to find.
Google: Marine salvage yards.
