I finally got out on the lake today:) and noticed that I have to choke it once to restarted after running it for a while. It will idle fine and smoothly power up. The air silencer is missing and I am awaiting one that I ordered. Also, what it the top rpm this motor runs? I want to check it to make sure I'm getting the most out of it. I forgot to mention that it is easy to start, no more that 2 pulls.

Thanks
James

i had an 85 it ran at about 5000 rpm and i had a similar issue only my main jet had somehow been pressed too high into the ventri /intake also check to see that the carb is not the crappy plastic one they have problems, check the mechanist site specific to the 9.9 and 15
