Hey guys I have a 1989 70hp evinrude and i noticed some oily residue under the flywheel, not a whole lot but some. Motor runs and idles great also is running on the top cylinder( if i pull the spark plug, it changes). My question is, is the somthing I should get replaced soon? or is a little oil normal for a older outboard. thanks for any input

Change it as the top cylinder will be running slightly lean and eventually it will go
Make sure its coming from there first though.
Change the o rings too

Does the crankcase need to be split to replace the upper roller bearing assuming that is bad and is what is causing the seal to go bad? What else could be causing this?

Just a seals thats worn that can be the only reason its failed.
But make sure the flywheel is torqued down to spec
