Good evening,
I've been piecing together a motor; installed a 93 power head on an 89 lower unit; the 93 appeared identical to the 89. When I assembled the unit I was surprised that the fit between the power head and the drive shaft seemed sloppy. the splines on the drive shaft appear somewhat worn but not that bad. I suspect the female splines in the crankshaft are stripped. Wish I had looked at it more closely before I put things together. Did get the engine started but I don't think the driveshaft is turning; didn't see any signs of it pumping water and shifting the gears only made the prop turn a bit. I didn't run it but a few seconds. I suspect I'm done for. Before I disassemble things, is there any hope/any suggestions as to how to proceed? any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks, Mitch
