My friend just got a new starter for his motor. I installed it and it will spin but won't "pop out" and hit the ring gear. I searched around and found out what wires go where.
The red, orange and battery all go on the top post and the yellow/red goes on the small post closest to the block and it should fire right up. Correct? So after hook up, all it does is spin. Is there another wire that makes the start gear pop out and catch?
We took it back out and went back to the store and they hooked it up and it did what it should, start and pop out. I put it back in and nothing. He did have a ground wire that ran from the starter to the ground post on the block. Would that mess things up some?
