Hi all,
I inherited a 1989 merc 25 HP. There was no spark when pulling or electric starting. I realized the throttle kill switch was compressed so I bypassed the kill switch on the CDI switch box and bingo I had spark. I then removed the throttle handle and cleaned the throttle kill. Now everything reads right on the multimeter, but no spark. I tested the side kill switch and that is working as well. I tried bypassing the kill switch again, no spark now.
When trying to start on one occasion, the electric start held in wide open position for about 5 seconds after releasing the start button before I disconnected the battery. I’m not sure what to do at this point. Any thoughts on where to go from here?
