Strange one this...

I have the above engine. I have only run i a few times now but here is some info.

Compression test is fine and equal. Spark is good, and strong. Initial start from cold is pretty impressive and no problems, but I took an inline fuel filter out of the setup on the boat not engine) fitted it back primed up the system again with a priming bulb and the engine was a complete and utter PIG to get going again. i.e. it would cough and that was it. Took half an hour of trying before the motor kicked back into life again.

Any idea why? Fuel pressure was good, the vapour separator was full etc.. I just didn't get it.

I thought somehow it may be flooded. So I took all the plugs out dried them off and put them back - no difference. So I thought perhaps not enough fuel. So then I took the plugs out again poured a bit of fuel in each plug hole and tried again. Still no real difference! Finally with quite a bit of fast idle added it kicked into life and was fine...

Anyone ever experienced anything like this?! Most odd!

I suspect air in the lines from you removing the filter. It sounds like most of it's out now.

So did I except I had purged it all out. Still a bit strange. I'll investigate further I think. (Once it stops raining!!!!!!!!!!)
