Still unsure of the original cause for the motor to die while planing, but consensus is that I then hydro-locked and may now have a bent rod; slight knock when turning over, It won't fire. Have fuel and spark. Compression test is 180, 120, 125, and 90. Desparate to get back in water as is first boat and had about 6 to 8 hours running when this happened. One mechanic thinks best solution is to just get a good used engine out of a junkyard and bolt it in. Is it that easy? And if so, can I upgrade just a little to say 2.8 or 3.0? Will either just bolt on to the OMC outdrive??
