I have a 1988 200 -HP Yamaha that sometimes starts. I have twins on the boat, no problem on the other engine. Seems like I have plenty of electrical power to the engine, power tilt and lift works fine, however when trying the starter I get the following random symptions. 1. engine starts fine. 2. No response at all, I mean not even a click in the starter. 3. Tries to start but acts like the battery dies....but there is no loss of battery power to the tilt and lift unit. I removed the starter and had bench tested, all is fine so I re-installed. I thought it might be the Starter Key Switch, but I don't understaand why I have plenty of battery at the Tilt and trim unit and nothing (at times) at the starter.
