Thought I would check here to get some options before jumping into this project I have a small leak it’s don’t seem to be any of the boots only a few small drips from the bottom of the transoms plate (sorry if my terminology is off) I really don’t believe the transom of rotten but anything is possible boat was gutted and rebuilt probably 10 years ago no flex in the transom my question was would some good marine silicon around the plate work as a temporary fix I don’t plan on leaving it this way just to get us through the season I hope that whoever redid the boat just messed up the gasket somehow or it has just failed anyone else ever used this temporary fix with Success again this will not be a permanent fix so try not to harp on me too bad I added some other pictures of the boat at it was done (dates on pictures are wrong) DA333397-4F23-4A1E-9380-4C160F7C09C0.jpegD7B6C5F8-15B3-4ADE-B184-B2CEF79E7DFA.png794805E8-9FCB-4A43-8F24-987FDE11DD91.png5C136DBD-0F24-4DB4-BAEA-D8F10FF070B2.pngB3062D6A-063F-4714-A53E-236C82340812.pngB8DD66EE-4E7E-4C44-816D-CD2CF0087CC9.pngDA333397-4F23-4A1E-9380-4C160F7C09C0.jpegC2A661A1-617B-47EC-B272-B91CFE3E44CC.jpeg

Silicone is good for temp fix.3m 5200 sealant is recommended for the permanent fix when you find it.If those pics are the finished product..that is beautiful!! I always found it more effective when looking for a leak to do it while floating and at night with a small flashlight which will isolate and focus each area you are searching.Charlie

based on the floor in your first pic, your transom is shot.

boats rot in this order:
Transom - starting at keel
Stringers - starting at transom
Floor - because the foam is soaked

In that last pic....is that water or ice? Honestly I can't tell. Regardless, that looks like much more than a "small" leak.

At a bare minimum....I'd look at pulling the drive off to see how bad this really is. If its just a gasket, would be easy enough to fix the right way as opposed to gooping some sillycone on the drive shield.

The transom was redone A long with the floor / seats/ engine that’s why I’m thinking it shouldn’t be rotten has less that 50 hours since being redone if even that I could be wrong but really wanna be optimistic haha but I put some 5200 around the gimbal plate hoping it won’t leak anymore causing actual rot not for a permanent fix but I’m not wanting to tear it back apart at the beginning of the season and Replace the gasket since doing so involves pulling the engine I’m thinking and hoping that gasket that goes in the gimbal plate wasn’t seated well or wasn’t tightened evenly just wanted to see if anyone else has sealed one this way and make it not leak completely for a season

It I water but not as bad as the picture leads on I was cleaning it up as I took that the leak is very slow a full day of boating won’t have that much in it at all

may have been 50 hours by the hour meter, however 15 years by the date stamp on the photos.

I would not slather on 5200 and call it good.
