1988 OMC feul pump overflow hose

I'm confused on where this is supposed to be hooked up. It looks like in the manual it shows that this line is supposed to be run to the top of the carb at the vaccum port. Before changing the pump this weekend I noticed had a plastic line off of it going nowhere except for it hanging low in the bilge.

We also changed out the carb and the old carb had a plug in the vaccum port. Should I be running this line from the fuel pump up to the vaccum port of the carb or should it be hooked up somewhere else? One mechanic said it should run to the flame arrestor but there is no connect for it....

I'm just confused....

Mine is running for the Fuel Pump to the VAC port on the carb.

Thanks, that's how I thought it should be but wasn't sure. Sometimes the mauanls have stuff in a greay area of not showing the whole picture but half of each side.
