My 1988 Mariner 50hp 2-stroke 3 cylinder motor dies randomly. It starts up good cold. I drive it around for a bit hour-ish and then it will bog down and die. It sounds like something is clogged when it bogs down. If I give it a little gas, the rpms increase but it sounds muffled. It will start up after a few attempts. It sounds like something “clears out” because it will sound normal again and no longer muffled. It will run for a bit before the same thing happens again.

Just got the carbs rebuilt, new fuel filter and new fuel pump so I’m not sure what the issue could be. Seems fuel related.

What was the state of the primer bulb when it bogged? Was it collapsing? Maybe fuel tank vent is plugged or a fuel line restriction?

It didn’t seem collapsed but I can double check. The tank has a new top on it and was vented. Also have a new fuel line so I wouldn’t think it would be tank or line.
