This is a 1988 power head and what looks to be an early 70’s lower unit and midsection. Changed the pump and the thermostat. When the lower came off the water tube came with it which is unusual for me. I have taken the lower off no less than 10 time to assure the pump was installed properly. The lower unit by itself will pump water in a bucket but will not pump it when installed and in a drum. Also tiny bubbles from where the lower and midsectoon come together. Have I got the water tube in the wrong hole in the head? Upper water tube grommet? Lost at this point.

The copper tube MUST be installed in the midsection BEFORE installing the lower unit.-----Water in a test bucket MUST be 6" above the impeller.

No reason to be sorry. It was great feedback and I was stating it was correct. I really appreciate your input.

Replaced upper water tube grommet .
No restrictions noted. I took off the shift rod plate and water started flowing from exhaust, pisser and through the shift Rod hole. If I replace the plate no water flows. What next?

All working correctly now. Racerone let me apologize to you as there was a gasket in the pump that wasn’t put in correctly. Your comment made me go back and do it all myself. There were 2 of us working on it and the internal housing gasket was left out. Once installed everything is working as it should. Thanks to everyone for their help.
