Was running full throttle when the engine died, no warning buzzer or anything. Couldn't get it restarted. Read all lot of posts about similiar problems, cut the black and yellow wire (kill) going to the power pack and it started right up, but was only running on one one side. Bought a new pack, same problem. Disconnected the neutral safety switch, replaced the key switch, same thing. I run premix so its not a low oil problem, and its running cool. Running out of ideas and would appreciate any feedback...

That engine may have a shift switch that momentarily kills one bank of cylinders when shifting. If it does, it'll be under the cowl close to the shift linkage.

c/6

Hooty

I just looked at a Clymer manual and it looks to me like it's there. It'll have a yellow and black wire going to it. Disconnect the wire and see if those other three cylinders don't start hittin'.

c/6

Hooty

Thanks for the response, these boards are great. Went down to give it a try, no luck. Starboard side still has no spark. Also tried the temp sensor thinking it may be in S.L.O.W. overheat mode, no luck again. A few times it seems like it was trying to kick in, maybe I'll pop the flywheel and start checking for any bad wires. Any more ideas?

The S.L.O.W mode just retards the timing, it doesn't stop cylinders from firing.
I'm fresh out of easy-fix ideas. I was sure the shift switch was it. If you have a VOM and a manual you can check the charge and sensor coils without removing the flywheel.

g'luck & c/6

Hooty

Ok, popped the flywheel off and all of the magnets had come loose. Got it fixed and back on. Everything good at the dock, sparking on all six. Took it out for a ride and no power. Maybe getting 50% at most, but still hitting on all six. Didn't have much time for any further testing but will be back next chance I get. Now here are my questions. In my haste of reconnections I realized when I got home I accidentally reconnected 4 barrel plug for VRO system (pump removed) would that cause anything. Also went I got back to the dock I took a look at the warning horn and went I touched the terminal the horn sounded, with the engine off. I'm going to replace the horn or clean the terminals next time to see if it is always sounding. Would any alarms cut the rpms on this engine and how do I find out the cause of the alarm.

and if you look on top where is the stator is you have to big plug that you can change side if you change those plug of side if the stator is damage you gone a have fire on the other side this time.1 plug in is for the right and the other one is for the left but you can mix those big black plug.just switch to plug and tell me if the fire goes great on the other side and the side where the fire was great maybe it will be dead now
