Hey Fella's,
Thanks for having me. I recently purchased a boat that has been floated around a few websites it appears, The stickers on the side said Team Inez. I'd attach pics but currently appears that I am not authorized to do so?
Before I continue with this story, I need to explain a little more of my back story. I traded a 1996 Thompson Calae for a 1980 Ski Supreme with cash. The Ski supreme ran great for 3 seasons, I cleaned it up and completely restored the trailer. I started to notice how soft the floor was getting and coincidently that's when I found out how important stringers were, mine were gone to say the least. About 5 years ago, with the assistance of iqxoqlms post on the restoration of his Ski Supreme, I embarked on my own restoration. I ended up removing one stringer, most of the bulkhead, and the foam in the nose and the project has pretty much stopped there (2 kids, Moving, work, school, etc. all got in the way).
I considered parting it out but nothing serious.
So fast forward to a few weeks ago, I came across the Team Inez boat. I figure I'd go check it out and see if it was rotted out and not worth much or for some reason, it might be a candidate for restoration. Much too my surprise, it was the later, this boat was constructed very well. First off, with the exception of the seats and upholstery, there is no wood used in the construction of this boat. The deck is a corrugated fiberglass, feels like concrete walking on it. It also has the same PCM 351 and Borg warner drive that my ski supreme has (my engine ran great and I've been fogging cylinders and doing everything I should while it's been laid up for 5+ years) so I will be swapping them out.
So, I purchased the boat for more than I probably should have but was excited about all the fiberglass work I wasn't going to have to do.
Here's where things get interesting and I was hoping that someone might have some answers.
The previous owner thought the boat was made in Lake Orion, MI and is a 4 of 8 made. I have tracked the manufacturer down to Inez Power Boats of Trenton, Georgia. The CEO was a William Brakebill and the company was only around from 1986 to 1989 or so.
Has anyone heard of this guy, he may have moved back to Tennessee after leaving the Georgia company.
Based on the Hull ID, is it possible this is a boat 0? The number is IPB00000C488. I did receive a title and registration for it. Was is some kind of show boat or demo?
I have searched extensively and called phone numbers and can find no further information or any picture of a similar boat. I was hoping to find something of the windshield so I could re-create something similar but mike just modify the Ski Supreme windshield to fit. This boat is constructed very well and there is very few minor cracks in the gel coat but nothing major.
Thanks in advance for any help and look forward to posting pics of the progress. I'm not sure I've ever seen a powder blue inboard before so look forward to getting it on the water this summer!
Thanks,
Davo

Have you contacted Inshore Power Boats? They are supposedly the parent company of Inez
http://www.uscgboating.org/content/m...il.php?id=5715

Kevin Fenn is listed as the CEO.

IPB HIN Decoder

Our HULL ID Decoder breaks down the Hull identification number into the following information:
The HIN or CIN you have entered meets the Current-Format HIN format. It might also be a type that contains the country code and thus the boat comes from USA or Other . The serial number of the HIN is 00000 and is set by the boat builder. This boat or vessel has a Certification Date of (4) and a Model Year of 1988 with month of build (March) based on the formatting of your hull_identification_number (HIN) .

The manufacturer identification code (MIC) of your craft identification number (CIN or HIN) is IPB. This MIC (IPB) stands for the company name Inshore Power Boats which is currently In Business. This boat manufacturer has other company names (IPB sometimes goes by these name(s) Inez Powerboats Inc (oob), , , or .

This company (Inshore Power Boats) is owned by Kevin Fenn and is located at 4854 DISTRIBUTION COURT in ORLANDO state of FL. It manufactured this vessel and placed you HIN or CIN on the hull. The Parent Company for this boat maker is (). Inshore Power Boats has started making boats, yachts and other watercraft as of 09/10/2008 0:00.

Make sure to compare the date of boat manufacturing with the dates in which the company was actually in business.

The US Coast guard provides this comment about this watercraft manufacturer: 5/89 Mail Returnedbox Closed - No Order 891208. Assigned To: Inez Powerboats Inc, At Po Box 668, Trenton, Ga From 11/87 To 05/89. New Company: Inshore Power Bopats, Models: Inshore Power Skiff 16 (16ft), Inshore 17 Guide (17ft), And Inshore 17xs (17ft)..

Seems Inez was a fairly short lived company.

Dont know how many were built, but Ser# 00000, suggests it was the 1st or a prototype....

jbcurt00, thanks for the quick reply. I did contact Inshore power boats, there is no relation between the companies. They were helpful and said they took over the manufacturing ID when they became a company in the late 1990's. They assured me they never made an inboard boat.
I made the same conclusion on the hull ID, haven't been able to find another one like it so far. I'll post some pics as soon as I can.

Sorry about that, it was more of a thought on my part than an offer, wasn't intentional. I'll keep in mind in the future.

Dont expect too much from Brendelman. Started that topic the same day he joined and hasnt been back since.

Also note that topic has been inactive since Sept '16, well beyond the 90days inactice guideline, so please dont post a reply to it.

Thats the guy I bought it from. He had a few stories to tell about it but nothing concrete. He did say that it was a group of manufacturers (He said Mastercraft and Ski Supreme specificly) that got together to build a few boats and work out problems they had been having with there boats (wood rot, etc.). They issue I have with that story is Ski Supreme and Mastercraft were not using wood in 1988.
He also thought that they were made in a plant in Lake Orion, MI but I cant find anything that relates to that. The company was definetly headquartered in Trenton, Georgia, suppose someone else could have produced in there plant?

The boat has the look of a set of boats custom built for a national touring ski team or similar.

your larger ski teams have enough pull to get custom boats made. they have been doing this for years

a former employee of mine was on a ski team. for pulling a 30 person pyramid, their boat had 3 350 hp Verado outboards on it with a custom transom and knee braces. Not something that mere mortals can get at your local dealer.

you probably wont find any information.
