I have an 88 In-Line 115 6cyl, had it about a year. When starting after sitting a couple of days, it idles and will accelerate OK, but it will miss every now and then. After running a few minutes, it will miss one last time and the RPM's will increase and it runs OK. Kind of like something is stuck in the carbs. After a run, stop and restart, the idle arm has to be pushed up to get it going, the RPM's will increase and then it will idle fine, leading me to believe the idle adjustment is correct (normal idle at 800-900 RPM). Also, when throttling down or shifting into gear it nearly dies, making close manuevers tricky. Motor always runs well above idle after changing gears.

All similar articles here seem to point to carb issues. The motor is run in salt and fresh. Always a good flush after salt. Had a tune-up and carb rebuild in July from a reputable shop. Does anyone have any advice?

Jeff

sounds like a lean fuel mixture on one or more carbs. they should be adjusted in gear in the water.
