1988 ignation diagram

i have a 1988 75hp mariner i need to install a new ignition switch i don't have a color diagram i have pics of the wiring and the new ignition i will send to your email if you thank you can help its got 6 connectors thanks:confused:

i went over and looked and did not find much to help me gonna try posting over there but not sure about what to look for i am a boat beginner begging anyone that can help before i try to pay a boat tech with pocket lint

1 Get yourself a spell check and use it. "ignation" doesn't compute

2 Use the search function located at the top right that says "Search This Forum"

3 Where did the old one go?

I used the search function in the appropriate forum and came up with a whole page of results.

Moving to Mercury/Mariner forum. It is NOT a Force or Chrysler outboard guys, it's a Mariner.

The switch should have 6 letters on it A, M, M, B, C, and S.
The wires are color coded as follows
It does not make any difference which M the Blk or Blk/Yel is on.

A = Purple
M = Black
M = Black/Yellow
B = Red
C = Yellow/Black
S = Yellow/Red

switch is a little different has a i instead of a the switch has m,m,b,c,i,s i did not notice that before all the colors you mentioned were the same as the wires on the boat do i have the correct switch they compared and agreed it was

The i stands for igntion, which is the same as A on a Merc switch.
Yes, the switch you have will work.
