1988 Force 85hp Black Box

Hi, Under the center console I found a black box with a red switch and a heavy red cable (B+). The cable isn't attached to anything, looks like it's supposed to go to the battery. There also appears to be a lug that another heavy cable should be attached to. Anyone know what this thing is?O.T.

Sounds like maybe a battery switch?

Never thought of that! Probably bad and they disconnected it. I'm used to seeing the standard rotary dial type. This boat is wired direct to the engine I'm guessing. Maybe I should put a new switch in it?

It's up to you. What ever you prefer. I have one on mine with two batteries so I can switch between the two, or use both at once. I can also disconnect both batteries without having to undo cables. Just makes it a lot more convenient.
