1988 Force 125HP question

I have a question about item 111 in the attached link to a diagram. It is described as "Tube & Pin Kit". What's it's purpose? Looks like it is located around the exhaust cover. Are they necessary?

?? Looks like something that goes in the water jacket/exhaust cover. Cost a whole $1.58 Have no idea really, as never had to dig in there on mine

I was thinking the same thing. I recently replaced the exhaust cover/baffle gasket for a small water leak (to no avail) and I don't remember seeing anything like that. I'm relatively new to these Force engines so I thought I'd see if any of the more experienced guys can shed some light.
