1988 E175 Carb Rebuild Kit Question? Sierra/OMC

I'm going to rebuild the carbs and in speaking with other boaters in the area, I'm told to steer away from the Sierra Kits and use OEM kits. There is not much difference in the price (~$10 each) and they are readily available here, so I am going to use OMC kits.

This is my first o/b motor and thus my first carb rebuild. Thought it would be good to have your input on the whole Sierra / OMC idea. Others reading the posts would probably like to know also.

Thanks.

Nothing wrong that I've found w/Sierra,but OMC gives you more parts, including the floats. So I go OEM when I can.

I did my '76 Johnson 115 carbs last year. Just for fun I did one with the OEM and one with Sierra.

I did not see a large difference, and it seems that while a kit with floats was available OEM, I got one without because the floats looked fine.

But for some reason I always feel better with the OMC stuff when it is readily available and no large price differences.
