1988 classic 50 mercury, bad switchbox.....need a little advice

iv got an 88 mercury classic 50 4cyl 2stroke outboard....the switchbox is bad, anyone know if i can replace my original mercury part # 332-5772-C with a standard mercury 332-5772? does the "-C" mean anything that will not allow my motor to fire? what about a cdi replacement box? any help would be great! thanks guys, great forum and tons of knowledgeable helpful folks on here!

It will work as long as its new...don't buy used electronics if possible unless seller will warranty them.
