I have a 1988 17.5 foot Bluefin sportsman with a 1988 Force 50 HP outboard.
Bought it used a couple of years ago.
Replaced the CDI box and the impeller.
At WOT I get about 30 mph according to the speedo.
No tach.
I believe it is the stock prop.
Does this seem normal?

30 mph? Pretty good. I have the exact same boat with an 85 hp Force. Max speed is 37 hp at WOT with stock prop (15.5X17?)

Get a tach for it in the same "vanishing point" style that was offered back then (makes it look like you are playing a video game). A tach will really help you choose the right prop for the conditions.

Where did you get the tach?
I would love to know what RPM I am running at.
I know what you mean about the vanishing point style.
Its definately out of the Pac-Man school of gauges.

I had the dealer install it when I bought the boat new. I think Bayliner and Bluefin used this style '87? through '89.
