There's a toggle switch on the instrument panel for the tilt and trim operation. Wanting to replace it, but not sure if its a 15 amp or 30 amp. Boat is still under its winter cover. Want to pick one up tomorrow and replace this weekend. Does it have to be a special one or just one from autozone?

15A switch would be fine, it only controls solenoids or relays, not the motor.
Are you sure the switch is bad?

Bought the boat last year and only had it out once before winter set in. Motor would "drift" down and tilt motor was intermittent when trying to operate it with toggle switch. Sent valve body off and had it rebuilt by rritt. While the assembly was off the boat, I took rritt's good advice and purchased orings, bolts, and washers to reseal the tilt motor. Inside motor was clean, no rust, or evidence of moisture. Everything looked fine. Figured i would start with the simplest, most inexpensive first, and go from there. Toggle switch (on-off-on) at auto parts store is about $5 for the 15amp.

Oh, I see, no testing. Just throw parts at it till the problem goes away. Sounds like a long drawn out, expensive way to fix things.

Thanks so much for your advice, Mr Personality. It's exactly not what I was looking for. And you're supposed to be helping people?

Ayuh,... So why are ya changing perfectly good switches,..??

99 times outa 100, the problem you think you have with yer switch, is corrosion on the wiring ends....

Remove, sand, clean, reinstall, 'n grease All the connections before ya buy ANYTHING...
There's a solenoid or 2 at the pump, the pump's wires, the battery wires, 'n All the Grounds....

Btw,... Standard Operating Procedure 'round here is to waste the time Diagnosin' things, rather than just throwin' parts at it, til ya get Lucky...
