Serial number is 0b302485. Can someone tell me why when I turn the ignition switch to start the outboard the starter does not disengage when I let go of the key? I replaced the starter solenoid about one year ago. It would not disengage at times even after just replacing the solenoid.

Might be the Key switch itself.Sometimes they can stick on start and not return to run.My Wifey's car does it and needs to be returned to run manually.
If key is returning on its own check wiring at control box.

Are you sure you don't have a bendix problem and not allowing starter gear to return? Check for power on starter motor or other side of solenoid when it does this. If no power there, you have a problem with the bendix.

I'm sorry, I failed to mention that after I turn the key to start and back to run, the starter motor stays running and is not sticking. The starter motor is still powered up after the outboard starts. I have had it stay running at times even after replacing the starter solenoid. It is intermittent, and have to disconnect the battery to get it to stop running. PLEASE advise.

It could be that the ignition switch or the wiring from it to the solenoid is the problem. Remove the wire from the switch to the solenoid and see if the starter quits running. If it dose, the wire or switch is not good. JMO
