1988 85hp shut's off

I have a 1988 85hp force with new fuel pump,plugs,and primer bulb.it run for two or three minutes then cut off.it does this for about three times and then it won't start anymore.HELP!!!!!!!

Sounds like your impeller (water pump) might be malfunctioning. The engine has a cut-off when the engine gets too hot. Are you sure that water is spitting out the exhaust horn ?

Check the fuel bulb when the engine shuts off. If it is soft, the most probable problem is that the three check valves in the fuel pump housing need replacing. Search my posts.

yes,water is coming out of the ports. does the primer bulb stay hard when running and when engine cuts off?

The primer bulb should stay firm after you pump it up. If it is getting soft, the check vavles are the prime culprit.

THANKS! One more thing. I notice some oil dripping from the exhaust snout.is this normal?

It is common to see oil coming from the snout as the engine does not burn all the oil and the snout is the exhaust pipe.
