1988 70hp merc to 90hp conversion

Hi All<br />I bought this motor new in 89 and when buying it i checked some specs and thought that this would be a great motor to convert to a 90hp when the time was right... Is is possible to make this into a 90hp by changing some parts and if so what.. Do I need to change the head and carbs and??<br />Thanks for all input

need more info. If the powerhead is the same for the 70 as the 90, you can get some 90 hp carbs, use a 90hp exhaust plate and throat, and that will probably be all that you need to do. If the powerheads aren't the same, i.e. different displacement, then you are probably going to have a tough time converting to a 90. Get me all the info, and I will see what I come up with.
