AFTER MY BOAT HAD BEEN SITTING FOR A WHILE I WENT TO RAISE THE ENGINE AND MY POWER TRIM/TILT MOTOR WOULD NOT LIFT IT; IT MADE NOISE BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. I DID NOTICE THAT THERE WAS FLUID THAT HAD LEAKED IN THE GARAGE SO I PUT MORE IN THE SIDE SCREW AND IT WORKED. THE PROBLEM IS THAT IT HAS LEAKED OUT AGAIN. I THINK THERE IS A CERTAIN PROCEDURE THAT YOU GO THROUGH TO PROPERLY REFILL THE HYDRAULIC FLUID. CAN ANYONE PASS THAT ON TO ME AND MAYBE GIVE ANY TIPS ON HOW I CAN KEEP IT FROM LEAKING? (IT SEEMS TO BE LEAKING FROM THAT SIDE SCREW ON THE TRIM/TILT MOTOR, TEFLON TAPE MAYBE?)

The procedure is to fill it while the engine is up and then cycle the engine a few times to get the air out.

I do not think it will do much good if you have a serious leak.

If it is just leaking around the fill screw, use the proper gasket, or O-ring. You don't want any bit's, or pieces getting into the system.

So, do I understand correctly: The opeing for the trim/tilt filler plug (a threaded plug) has an "O" ring at the base? Makes sense.

Hey TBSDTD: Is old damaged "O" ring still in the hole? Use a flashlight and maybe a magnifying glass. Replacing the "O" ring would definately be better than using the tape.

Good luck. Keep me in the loop.

DAD?

GONNA TRY THE O RING; CANT HURT. GOES UP AND DOWN NOW BUT AFTER A FEW TIMES CEASES TO WORK. CLICKS LIKE IT HAS POWER BUT NOTHING. NOT SURE WHAT TO DO NEXT BUT WILL KEEP TRYING. ENGINE WILL NOT STAY UP FOR ANY AMOUNT OF TIME. FOR SURE LEAKING FROM THE SIDE SCREW (SAW, HEARD IT LEAKING AIR) LOVE THE HELP

LOVE
B
