My question is I would like too add a 35 hp carb to my 30 hp motor , Just to get a little more power out of it . Does anybody have any idea if the casting number that's on the carb will tell me what size the carb is ? (35 HP i,e ) ? Or do they just have a bigger bore to them and not anything inside of the carbs themself ?How can I tell the differnce between one and the other , After thought or can I use a 40 hp carb or are they twin carb set-up ?
Any information would be great , Thanks JT

I have a 1989 28SPL which is the same motor as yours and I bought a 35 carb for it but discovered it was the same carb. Evidently when they changed the way HP was rated the 30 had the same HP as the older 35. Maybe someone else knows what year the rating change occured?

Do you happen to know what the casting numbers was on the carb ? Does it mean anything per horse power ?
