1988 25 hp jumping out of reverse

Goes into and stays in forward gears just fine. I can't see a clutch dog.Could it be the reverse gear lock inside the transom, and if it is where can I get one for this year and size of motor? All help greatly appreciated.

Is it grinding while it is in nutral? or in reverse? The shift cable may need to be adjusted, this happened on my mercruiser just a thought. you may wait for a pro though.

No grinding, other than popping out of reverse everything is fine.
