I recently had my 1988 2-stroke Mariner 50hp in for service since it was idling rough. The day I got it back from the service center, I launched it and it started and ran well. After an hour I stopped to grab some food (20 minutes). When I came back the engine would not start up. When I tried to start it in the morning it fired right up. Same sequence the next day (no start when warm, start the next morning). Today (the following day), when I tried to start it cold, it would not start.
It wasn’t hard to start before I brought it in for service, and I never had an issue like this. I only brought it in because it was idling rough. The service center suggested getting fresh gas, but it runs fine on the current tank when it does start. Seemed like vapor lock at first since it was a warm start issue - now it doesn’t start cold. Any suggestions on what I should do?
From the service center: Compression and spark are good. Impeller replaced. Carbs rebuilt. New fuel filter.
Thanks in advance!
