hello all,

i write to you in desperation. I have a 1988 Yamaha 130ETLG. It sat in storage for the last few years, all fuel drained out. When I got it out of storage, other than a new water pump, it worked flawlessly all weekend. Ran around 80 miles around the river. One day afterwards I come off plane into a no wake and it starts running on cyl. 1&3. Replace power pack and it restores spark to all cylinders.

Now. It will run up to 2200rpm like normal, then EXTREMELY, slowly it will climb to 3000rpm and it takes off like normal, it’s like the engine comes back to life all the sudden! Let it fall back down to 2000 and gun it....shudders and shakes until it gets to 3000 and bam! Back to normal. I feel like I’ve checked nearly everything trying to figure this out. Could this be a pulse coil?

Any help is greatly appreciated

Out of curiosity, and to help with possibly getting answers to your question, what else did you do to the motor after taking it out of storage. Did you check the fuel lines, tank for corrosion, etc? When it was stored, how was the fuel removed, outside of letting it shut itself off once the fuel hose was pulled? Tank emptied?

I can't remember the process, but there is a way to test the pulse coil with an ohm meter. I'm sure Google has it.

just about anything and everything you could imagine. Tank was bone dry in storage, and carbs were drained. Hoses, connectors, etc all in good shape, all getting plenty of fuel.
