1988 110 evinrude vro/speedo/tach question?

ok the speedo on my boat doesn't work it is the pitot type and the speedo and the tach reading come off off the same gage so i was wondering if because it is the water preasure type that it wouldn t be acurate to begin with.if its not acurate would the motor be set up to reach a safe max speed and not be able to red line ?

If whoever set it up knew what they were doing it would be. Don't count on it. Speedos are not very accurate.

To answer your question, No. The engine RPMs are not controlled or limited by the speedo. The most accurate speedometer is a GPS navi unit, the same one you use in your car.
