Im new here, just trying to source through possible problems on my black max, so far i have checked spark on all 6 its good, i did a compression test and all 6 are around 120 or within a pound or 2 of it. It idles great and when you put it in gear and go to plane out it hits a wall at 2000 rpm (under load only, in neutral it will rev past 2000) . Iv changed both switch boxes, carbs are out getting ultra sonic cleaned, and have a new stator on order even though mine ohmed out good according to specs! Anyone else ever had this issue, or have any ideas what to check next?

Welcome to iboats

You say Spark is good on all 6. Is it good enough to jump a 3/8" Gap?
Was there a Problem with the Spark, with the old Switchboxes in place?
You said "carbs are out getting ultra sonic cleaned". So you haven't run it with the Cleaned Carbs. Personally, I don't understand the recent Fascination with Ultrasonic Cleaning. I guess it sounds Impressive. A Disassembly, and good Carb Cleaner Bath, will do the job very well
Prior to removal, did you verify that the Carbs were opening Fully?
Is the Max Timing, and Pickup Timing correct?

Stator has both high speed and low speed windings. 2000RPM is about where they transition. Hopefully the new stator will fix it.

Merc "bands" matching stator wires together so you cannot (or hopefully cannot) install the stator wires incorrectly.

If switchboxes are not OEM, Serria, CDI or Prufrex they can be bad and act good due to bias circuit. I have had 4 customers return the Amazon Chinesem junk this month and I replaced with Serria (warranty)
