Not sure how, but my dipstick went AWOL. I'd like to drain all the oil, fill to the proper capacity, then I'll engineer or order a new dipstick. Just need to make sure I'm at the proper oil level for dipstick calibration.

I found a .pdf file with capacities, and it shows 5.5 quarts, but I would have bet that I only used 4.5 quarts on the last change, which leads me to my next question. When I suck the oil out, how much is usually left in the crankcase?

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Those engines would hold between 5.5 and 6 quarts. If you drain properly you should be able to add 5.5 quarts and remark your new dipstick. Be sure and run the new oil into the filter before marking the dipstick.
