Re: 1987 omc cobra 2.3L fuel pump?

My mechanic still can't find a fuel pump after looking for 2 weeks. Actually I went to that link and it appears promising., however the gentleman that started this link was looking for a fuel pump for a 1987 OMC Cobra. I have a 1989 Model. Are they the same pump or should there be a different link?? Any help would be appreciated.

And one more question, is this business still active. Is it still in operation?

Well It appears that link works and the company is still in business, however they did not have the fuel pump I need either. It's amazing to me that an engine only 15 years old has no replacement parts made for it. What a joke! I guess I'm out about 4 large for this peice of crap Bayliner. I guess I'm giving up altogether on boating as well. I mean, when even your mechanic can't fix your boat, WTF?

Ditto... very helpful. VERY QUICK SHIPPING!

If for some strange reason you cannot replace it, you can always consider converting to electric fuel pump!

Well my 1989 ford 2.3 fuel pump just went out also.. they are very hard to find.. I had choice of electric one or a carter mech. one. They are both available.. the carter mechanical one is about 100 bucks, electric is cheaper. I live in Oregon, and the carter are located in New York.. if you want email address, just let me know... merlin800@msn.com Good luck, Al

if i were you man i would go to advance auto parts or autozone and buy a cheap electric inline fuel pump you can get one for about $20 all you need is about 3-4 psi and it will work great and save you some $$$$

well let me ask why would you get a big boom? When mine goes out i'll be wiring mine up on a seperate switch. A sealed electric fuel pump shouldn't make any spark and also its not going to just dump fuel all over the place. If your are worried about that then just add a seperate fuel pressure regulator that has a back feed into the tank. theres not any reason you can't do that and it still be safe b/c it would feed the same pressure at the same rate. and the fuel system would be just as closed then as it is now correct? and you would still come out cheaper. Besides i like the instant pressure of an electric system. but maybe i'm wrong

It is supposed to be wired the correct way to start with...Ask Don about it!
Why rig something that can kill you and the people on the boat or at the dock because you were too dang cheap to buy the right part and fix it the correct way!
It just erks my arse when people rig cheap auto parts on a marine engine.

When it burns and kills someone do you think your insurance will pay after finding non Coast Guard approved parts on the boat? Not in a million years!
